Parking brake is of the pump-to-set type. When parking brake is applied, the lever on rear caliper turns the actuator screw which is threaded into a nut in the caliper piston assembly. This moves the piston outward which results in a clamping action on rotor.

Parking brake pedal may require up to two full pumps to set brake. Parking brake assembly in rear calipers is equipped with a self adjusting mechanism.
