- Remove idle stop screw plug. Insert IAC air plug in throttle body assembly (SA9196E for TBI or SA9106E for PFI). Disconnect IAC valve harness connector. Connect scan tester to ALDL test connector.
- Start engine. Check idle speed. Idle speed should be 450-650 RPM. If idle speed is not as specified, adjust idle speed screw to 500-600 RPM. Turn engine off. Reconnect IAC valve harness connector. Check TPS voltage. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS).
- Remove IAC air plug, and install idle stop screw plug. Start engine, and verify proper idle operation. If proper idle operation cannot be obtained, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
