Crankshaft Sensor Pick-Up Coil Short & Resistance Checks

1992 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z, 2D Coupe, 5.7 8SECTION Crankshaft Sensor Pick-Up Coil Short & Resistance Checks
  1. Set DVOM on the 2000-ohm scale. Connect leads to crank angle sensor connector, located on side of engine block. On 2.0L, turn ignition off. On 2.5L, remove ignition module. On all models, disconnect ECM connectors. Measure resistance between ECM terminals D9 and D10. Crankshaft sensor resistance should be within specification range listed in CRANKSHAFT SENSOR RESISTANCE table. If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.
  2. With sensor installed in block (except 2.5L), connect one ohmmeter lead to either sensor terminal (ECM terminal D9 or D10 on 2.0L). Touch other lead of ohmmeter to engine block. No continuity should exist. If continuity exists, sensor or harness is shorted to ground and must be repaired or replaced.
