Removal & Installation: Clutch: Removal
1990 Chevrolet Step Van 6.2 J, Automatic, 3L80-HD/M40SECTION Removal
- With transmission removed, disconnect rod and return spring at clutch fork. Remove bellhousing. Pry against release fork until it is released from ball pivot. Remove release bearing from clutch fork. Mark position of pressure plate on flywheel for reassembly reference.
- Install clutch alignment tool to support clutch assembly during removal. Remove pressure plate bolts 1-2 turns at a time to avoid warping pressure plate. Remove bolts until spring tension is released. Remove clutch alignment tool, pressure plate and clutch disc.
