This is an informational bulletin to familiarize technicians with the functional differences of left hand window switches used on the 1990-91 U Van as compared to those used on 1992 U Van models.

It is important that technicians (and owners) understand how the different switches function, especially since 1990-91 switches are serviced with the 1992 switch. THE SWITCH FUNCTION SHOULD BE EXPLAINED TO ANY OWNER OF A 1990-1991 U VAN THAT HAS HAD A SWITCH REPLACED.

1990-91 Models: P/N 10149405 serviced by P/N 14098917 when the rear of the rocker switch is depressed an audible click can be heard and the switch will remain depressed while the window expresses down. The switch will pop up when the express down cycle is complete. Express down may be cancelled while the window is in motion by depressing the front of the rocker switch.

1992 Models: P/N 14098917

When the rear of the rocker switch is partially depressed, an audible click can be heard and the window will start downward, but will stop if the switch is released - the switch will not remain depressed. If the rear of the switch is fully depressed, a second less audible click can be heard and the window will express down - again the switch will not remain depressed. Express down may be cancelled by depressing the front of the rocker switch any time the window is moving downward.

Switch Replacement

Refer to section 10-6, Figure 3 of 1991 or 1992 U-Van Service Manual for Service Procedure. Removal of Door Panel is not necessary for switch service.
