Input Shaft: Reassembly

1988 Chevrolet Cavalier RS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Reassembly
  1. Lubricate all parts. Install needle bearing and 3rd gear and install synchronizer ring. Carefully press 3rd-4th synchronizer sleeve and hub assembly together using Bearing/Collar Installer (J-33374) and a press. Apply lubricant to entire circumference of collar hub interiors.
  2. Ensure that insert springs do not interfere with hub after installation. Install synchronizer ring, needle bearing, 4th gear and thrust washer. See Figure . Install thrust washer with recessed area facing 4th gear. Apply lubricant and press on front and rear bearing using Bearing/Collar Installer (J-33374) until firmly seated.
