1987 Chevrolet Suburban R20, 5.7 K, StandardSECTION Reassembly
- Position 3rd countergear on shaft, with front surface toward front of shaft. Using arbor press, press gear on shaft with a minimum force of 1500 lbs. (680 kg). If gear can be installed with force of less than 1500 lbs. (680 kg), replace gear.
- Install spacer, and press clutch countergear on countershaft using Bushing Driver (J-22873). See Fig 1. Install thrust washer. Install NEW countergear retaining ring using Inner Sleeve (J-22830) and Bushing Driver (J-22873). See Fig 2. DO NOT over-stress retaining ring.
