Component Disassembly & Reassembly: Countershaft: Disassembly

1987 Chevrolet Suburban R20, 5.7 K, StandardSECTION Disassembly
  1. Remove clutch countergear retaining ring and thrust washer. Install Remover Plates (J-22832) on countershaft, with open side toward spacer. See Fig 1.
  2. Support assembly in an arbor press, and press countershaft out of clutch countergear. Remove spacer. Position assembly on an arbor press, and press shaft from 3rd countergear.
