Adjuster Plug Assembly: Reassembly

1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS, 4.3 ZSECTION Reassembly
  1. Using previously used arbor, install bearing 5/8" (16 mm) into adjuster away from exposed end with identification numbers facing out. Lubricate stub shaft seal and install deep enough to provide clearance for dust seal and retaining ring.

  2. Lubricate dust seal with petroleum jelly and install seal in adjuster plug with seal rubber face outward. Install retaining ring and ensure proper seating. Lubricate "O" ring with petroleum jelly and install in groove of adjuster plug.
  3. Install large upper bearing race, upper thrust bearing, small upper bearing race, thrust bearing spacer and bearing retainer into plug. Location of spacer notches are not important.
