Either Multipurpose gear lubricants meeting API specification GL-5 or engine oils labeled for API Service "SF" may be used.

If multipurpose gear lubricant is used and the minimum anticipated atmospheric temperature is:

  • Above 90°F (32°C), use SAE 140.
  • As low as -10°F (-23°C), use SAE 90.
  • Below -10°F (-23°C), use SAE 80.

If engine oil is used and the minimum anticipated atmospheric temperature is:

  • Above 32°F (0°C), use SAE 50.
  • Below 32°F (0°C). use SAE 30.
