Engagement Switch

1987 Chevrolet Cavalier Base, 4D Wagon, Standard, MR3SECTION Engagement Switch

The engagement switch turns the system on and off and also returns cruise control operation to last speed setting when momentarily moved toward the R/A ("RESUME/ACCELERATION") position after braking. If the slider is held in the R/A position for more than one second, the system enters acceleration mode. The vehicle may be accelerated by moving the slider to the R/A position and holding.

When released, the vehicle will maintain the selected cruise speed. The slide switch may also be used to "tap-up" vehicle speed. With cruise engaged and operating, the slide must be quickly pressed toward R/A position and then released. The "tap-up" feature allows the vehicle speed to be increased in 1 MPH increments up to 10 times. One tap will produce an increase in speed of 1 MPH.
