Hydraulic Head Seal: Removal

1986 Chevrolet Step Van P20, 6.2 J, Automatic, 475/M40SECTION Removal
  1. Remove injection pump from vehicle. Remove throttle shaft and seal. See THROTTLE SHAFT SEALΒ . Remove metering valve. Remove housing vent screw assembly. Remove cam advance pin hole plug and advance pin.
  2. Install pump in holding fixture so that rear of pump is tilted downward. Remove 2 hydraulic head locking screws. Remove hydraulic head locating screw and seal. Using a twisting motion, remove hydraulic head assembly from pump. Remove and discard "O" ring.
