1986 Chevrolet Cavalier RS, 2D Hatchback, 2.8 W, AutomaticSECTION Description

Power is transferred from transaxle to drive wheels by 2 axle shafts. The CV joints are of 2 designs, all outer joints are double-offset design and inner joints are tripod design or double-offset design. All outer CV joints are splined (helical splines) to the wheel bearing hub and are secured by a spindle nut.

All inner axle shafts, except left inner joint of automatic transaxles, use male splines and interlock with transaxle gears by barrel-type snap rings. The left inner joint of automatic transaxles use female splines and installs over stub shaft of transaxle.
