- Turn control switch on, check that indicator lamp comes on and check that grid gets hot. Wait 10 minutes, indicator lamp should go off. Turn control switch on again, check that indicator lamp goes off after 5 minutes.
- Turn control switch on once more, check that indicator lamp comes on and immediately turn switch off. Check that indicator lamp goes off and that grid cools down.
- Check "ACC" circuit breaker by operating power door locks. Check gauge fuse by watching instrument panel warning lights. If problem involves time that defogger operates, replace control switch.
- Remove connector from control switch and defogger timer/relay. Check LT BLU, ORG/BLK and PNK/BLK wire terminals for battery voltage. If voltage is incorrect, check circuit for that terminal.
- If voltage is correct, disconnect negative battery cable and measure BLK and BLK/WHT wire resistance to ground. Resistance reading must be 1 ohm or less for BLK wire, 2 ohms or less for BLK/WHT wire. If resistance is incorrect, check defogger grid. If voltage and resistance are correct, replace control switch.
