NOTE: There are 2 light duty truck emission control standard classifications: Light Duty and Heavy Duty. Light Duty refers to vehicles up to 8500 lbs. (GVW); Heavy Duty refers to vehicles over 8500 lbs. (GVW).
  1. Check fluid level whenever vehicle is serviced. On vehicles used in normal service with Heavy Duty emissions, transmission should be drained and refilled every 36,000 miles.
  2. On vehicles with Light Duty emissions, transmission should be drained and refilled every 37,500 miles.
  3. On either Light or Heavy duty emission vehicles used under severe conditions, drain and refill transmission every 18,000 miles.

When to See a Mechanic
