Air Valve Spring

1983 Chevrolet Step Van P20, 5.7 M, Automatic, 400/M40SECTION Air Valve Spring
  1. Use hex wrench to loosen lock screw. Turn tension adjusting screw counterclockwise until air valve opens part way.
  2. Turn tension adjusting screw clockwise until air valve just closes. Then turn adjusting screw clockwise specified number of turns. See Fig 1.
  3. Hold adjusting screw and tighten lock screw. Apply lithium base grease to lubricate contact area.
