NOTE:
Some engines are equipped with a receptacle for a magnetic probe timing meter, located 9.5° ATDC. DO NOT use this location for timing with a conventional timing light.
- Place transmission in Neutral (man. trans.) or "P" (auto. trans.).
- Place EST into by-pass mode by disconnecting single Tan/Black wire near right valve cover.
- Connect timing light to No. 1 spark plug wire. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn air conditioner off.
- Adjust ignition timing by turning distributor housing. Recheck timing after tightening. Remove timing light and connect all wiring and vacuum hoses.
