Air-Def Thumbwheel
With the engine running and the control at OFF, vacuum closes the air door. At AIR, vacuum is shut off and the air door is fully open. At the same time vacuum is applied to the defroster door to direct airflow mainly to the floor outlets with a small portion going to the defroster outlets. At the arrow between AIR and DEF, there is no vacuum applied to the defroster door, allowing airflow to be split between the floor and defroster outlets. At DEF, vacuum is applied to the defroster door directing airflow chiefly to the defroster outlets.
