Pedal freeplay should be 1 - 1 1/8" (1968-70) or 1 - 1 1/2" (1971-73). To adjust, disconnect return spring at clutch fork. With clutch pedal against stop, loosen lock nut to allow adjusting rod or swivel to be turned to obtain proper freeplay. Later models have a gauge hole (upper hole) in lever; remove rod or swivel and insert in gauge hole. Increase length until all lash is removed from system. Reinstall rod in lower hole, being careful not to change rod length. Pedal freeplay should be as specified.
