Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Circuit/System Description
When the rear window defogger switch is activated, the radio/HVAC control panel sends a serial data message to the HVAC control module requesting the rear defogger be activated. The HVAC control module responds by energizing the rear defog relay by applying voltage to the rear defog relay control circuit. When the rear defog relay coil is energized, the switch contacts of the rear defog relay close allowing battery voltage to flow from the REAR DEFOG fuse through the closed switch contacts and out the relay switched output to the rear window defogger grid.
