Component Testing

2011 Cadillac Escalade Base, AWDSECTION Component Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2012 Cadillac Escalade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE:

You must perform the Component Testing before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Verify that DTCs P1AF0, P1AF2, P1B43, P1B44, P1B0B, or P1B0C is not set.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X176 harness connector at the transmission.
  3. Install the DT-48493Β  jumper harness to the transmission side only.
  4. Test for 7.0-9.0 Ξ© between the AC terminal 15 and the AC terminal 16.
    • If not within the specified range, test the transmission control wiring harness extension harness circuits for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal replace the M15A drive motor with generator assembly.
  5. Test for 20-23 Ξ© between the signal terminal 20 and the signal terminal 21.
    • If not within the specified range, test the transmission control wiring harness extension harness circuits for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal replace the M15A drive motor with generator assembly.
  6. Test for 23-26 Ξ© between the signal terminal 17 and the signal terminal 18.
    • If not within the specified range, test the transmission control wiring harness extension harness circuits for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal replace the M15A drive motor with generator assembly.
  7. Test for greater than 10, 000 Ξ© between the terminals listed below and ground:
    • Terminal 15
    • Terminal 16
    • Terminal 17
    • Terminal 18
    • Terminal 20
    • Terminal 21
    • If less than the specified value, test the transmission control wiring harness extension harness circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal replace the M15B drive motor with generator assembly.
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the terminals listed below:
    • Terminals 15 and 17
    • Terminals 15 and 20
    • Terminals 17 and 20
    • If less than the specified value, test the transmission control wiring harness extension harness circuits for a short between the circuits. If the circuits test normal replace the M15B drive motor with generator assembly.
  9. If the test passed refer to Circuit/System Testing.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • β€’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • β€’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • β€’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • β€’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • β€’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
