Circuit/System Testing

2011 Cadillac CTS V, 2D Coupe, StandardSECTION Circuit/System Testing
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inclination sensor.
  2. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Disconnect the harness connector at the intrusion sensor.
  4. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  5. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the intrusion sensor.
  6. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  7. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X7 harness connector at the BCM.
  8. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the following signal circuit terminals and ground:
    • Terminal 12
    • Terminal 15
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  9. Test for infinite resistance between the following signal circuit terminals and ground:
    • Terminal 12
    • Terminal 15
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  10. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the following signal circuit terminals:
    • Terminal 12 at the BCM and terminal B at the intrusion sensor
    • Terminal 15 at the BCM and terminal C at the intrusion sensor
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  11. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the intrusion sensor. If the DTC resets, replace the BCM.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • β€’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • β€’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • β€’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • β€’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • β€’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
