2009 Cadillac Escalade ESV AWDSECTION Assembly Procedure

  1. Install the new steering gear pitman shaft housing cover O-ring (4).
  2. Install the steering gear pitman shaft housing cover (3).
  3. Install the steering gear pitman shaft lash adjuster nut (2).
  4. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install the steering gear pitman shaft housing cover bolts (1) and tighten to 62 N.m (46 lb ft).

  7. Install the pitman arm washer (2).
  8. Install the pitman arm nut (3) and tighten to 250 N.m (184 lb ft).
  9. If necessary adjust the steering gear pitman shaft over-center preload. Refer to Steering Gear Pitman Shaft Over-Center Preload Adjustment - Off VehicleΒ .
  10. Install the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement (Hydraulic Rack and Pinion)Β  or Steering Gear Replacement (Recirculating Ball Without LMM)Β  or Steering Gear Replacement (Two Mode Hybrid)Β .
