2009 Cadillac Escalade ESV AWDSECTION Assembly Procedure

- Install the new steering gear pitman shaft housing cover O-ring (4).
- Install the steering gear pitman shaft housing cover (3).
- Install the steering gear pitman shaft lash adjuster nut (2).
- Install the steering gear pitman shaft housing cover bolts (1) and tighten to 62 N.m (46 lb ft).
- Install the pitman arm washer (2).
- Install the pitman arm nut (3) and tighten to 250 N.m (184 lb ft).
- If necessary adjust the steering gear pitman shaft over-center preload. Refer to Steering Gear Pitman Shaft Over-Center Preload Adjustment - Off VehicleΒ .
- Install the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement (Hydraulic Rack and Pinion)Β or Steering Gear Replacement (Recirculating Ball Without LMM)Β or Steering Gear Replacement (Two Mode Hybrid)Β .
