Installation Procedure

2006 Cadillac SRX 4.6 A, AWDSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the retaining bolt that secures the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  5. Install the steering column.
  6. Install the steering column mounting nuts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.
  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left .
  9. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers ReplacementΒ .
  10. Raise the vehicle.
  11. Install the intermediate shaft - upper to the intermediate shaft - center.
  12. Install the retaining bolt that secures the intermediate shaft - upper to the intermediate shaft - center.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.

  15. Unlock the steering column by removing J 42640Β  from the steering column lower trim cover access hole.
  16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
