Removal Procedure
2006 Cadillac SRX 4.6 A, AWDSECTION Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Rear (AWD) or Propeller Shaft Replacement - Rear (RWD) in Propeller Shaft.
- Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the right wheel drive shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Rear in Wheel Drive Shafts.
- Position a transmission jack beneath the differential.
- Firmly secure the differential to the transmission jack.
- Remove the front differential to support mounting bolt (1) and nut.
- Remove the left rear differential to support mounting bolt (1).
Note that the rear differential support mounting bolts will not be able to be removed completely due to interference with the underbody.
- Remove the right rear differential to support mounting bolt (1).
- Lower the jack slightly until the mounting ear at the front of the differential clears the support attachment point.
- Using a suitable tool, carefully release the wheel drive shaft from the differential enough to install the J 44394Β .
