Wiper and Washer Systems: Description and Operation

1996 Cadillac Eldorado V8-4.6L VIN 9SECTION Description and Operation
The Headlamps Washer System consists of Headlamps Washer Module, Headlamps Washer Pump Motor, Wiper/Washer switch and related fuses and wiring.

When the Wiper/Washer switch is turned to the WASH position, the Headlamps Washer Module detects voltage at terminal 5. The module closes an internal switch and a timer is activated. Battery voltage from the Trunk Compartment Fuse Block CONSOLE fuse energizes an internal relay coil and the Headlamps Washer Pump Motor is provided battery voltage from the Trunk Compartment Fuse Block HDLP WASH Fuse. When the timer "times out" the internal switch opens, the relay coil de-energizes and battery voltage is no longer provided to the Headlamps Washer Pump Motor.
