INPUT SHAFT END PLAY MEASUREMENT 4T80-E TRANSAXLE
^ Tools Required
- J 39686 Input End Play Check Tool
- J 8001 Dial Indicator Set

1. Install the J 39686 input end play check tool into the case barrel and install the post.

2. Locate the J tab on the input shaft (604). The arrow on the tab should have a 90 orientation.
3. The washer must rest flat on the case cover seal. Rotate the threaded shaft clockwise until tight. Leave enough space for the collar.
4. Insert the collar. Install the J 8001 dial indicator set.

5. Push down on the handle and check the end play.
Specification
- The end play specification is 0.1-0.85 mm (0.004-0.033 in).
- If the measurement is out of the specification range, determine the appropriate selective thrust washer (522) for installation upon reassemble.
6. Remove the dial indicator and the post.
