New Essential Tool, J 42983, and Repair Procedure for Door Trim Pad Hooks, Revised Labor Time

1992-97 Cadillac Seville
1992-98 Cadillac Eldorado

The purpose of this Warranty Administration Bulletin is to provide retail and wholesale service personnel a revised service policy for labor operations involving door trim assembly removal.
During March, 1998, dealers will receive a new essential tool, J 42983 - Trim Hook Repair kit, which is used to repair broken hooks on the door trim assemblies. The kit includes all necessary parts and complete instructions for repairing door trim assembly hooks.
Effective April 1, 1998, dealers will no longer be required to replace a door trim assembly when a retaining hook is broken. An add time of 0.2 hour to repair broken hooks has been added to all of the labor operations that include door trim assembly removal, these include: door module assembly, internal door hardware, door glass, interior trim, radio speakers, and door switches.
