Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 5 Neutral Safety Switch:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Apply parking brake.
3. Shift gear selector to neutral.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors, then remove linkage retaining nut.
5. Disconnect cable and lever.
6. Remove neutral safety switch, Fig. 5.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure transaxle is in neutral.
b. New switches are pre-aligned to the neutral position.
c. If adjustments need to made to an existing switch, Refer to Adjustment.
d. Torque switch bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
e. Torque linkage retaining nut to 15 ft. lbs.
