The Vehicle Speed Sensor is a gear-driven permanent magnet generator housed in the transaxle. This sensor generates a sine wave output with a frequency proportional to the vehicle speed. The sensor provides this signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on YEL (400) and PPL (401). The PCM converts this signal to an output that is switched to ground at a frequency of 4000 pulses per mile. The PCM provides this vehicle speed signal on DK GRN/WHT (817) to the following components:
^ Instrument panel cluster (IPC).
^ Cruise control module.
^ Road sensing suspension (RSS) module.
