PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check all cruise control inhibit criteria (listed below).
^ The engine is "OFF".
^ The transaxle is in park, neutral, low or reverse gear.
^ Engine speed is too high.
^ Vehicle speed is too high.
^ Vehicle acceleration rate is too high.
^ Traction control system is active for more than 2 seconds.
^ The PCM sets DTC 0703 (TCC Brake Switch Problem)
^ The PCM sets DTC P1575 (Extended Travel Brake Switch Problem)
2. Check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Refer to Engine Controls. Testing and Inspection
3. Check that cruise control module linkage is connected and moving freely.
4. Check cruise cable adjustment.
5. Check brake switch for proper adjustment/alignment.
6. Make sure that center high mounted stoplamp (CHMSL) is working.
7. Check operation of speedometer, refer to Vehicle Speed Sensor. Vehicle Speed Sensor
