Trunk Open
1991 Cadillac Seville V8-300 4.9LSECTION Trunk Open
Trunk Open Circuit:
TEST CONDITION:
Ignition 3 is on.
FAILURE CONDITION:
Trunk lid is open.
ACTION TAKEN:
Display the "Trunk Open" message on the CCDIC.
The BCM provides system voltage to the trunk open circuit, and the trunk open limit switch provides the only path to ground. The BCM internally monitors the voltage level at pin 3C15. When the trunk lid circuit is open the BCM will detect system voltage, but if the trunk open switch provides a path to ground (trunk lid open), the BCM will detect that the circuit has been grounded. The BCM will then send the "Trunk Open" message to the CCDIC.
DIAGNOSIS:
Condition Possible Causes:
^ Erroneous Message - short to ground on circuit 146 or shorted sensor.
^ No Message - open in circuit 146, open in sensor, or open in circuit 804.
