- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Press washer switch to ON for less than one second. Washer should spray for 2 1/2 seconds after switch is released. Wipers should operate at low speed while spraying and continue to operate at low speed for 2 sweeps after wash cycle is complete, then return to Park position.
- Turn wiper switch to LOW position. Wipers should operate continuously at low speed. Turn wiper switch to HIGH position. Wipers should operate continuously at high speed. Turn wiper switch to OFF position. Wipers should return to Park position at low speed.
- Turn wiper switch to MIST position and then release. Wipers should make one complete sweep at low speed, then return to Park position.
- Turn wiper switch to minimum sensitivity in AUTO DELAY position. A single wipe should occur. Each time wiper switch is moved to another higher or lower sensitivity in AUTO DELAY position, a single wipe should occur.
- Turn wiper switch to minimum sensitivity in AUTO DELAY position. Using spray bottle, spray outside moisture sensor area of windshield heavily with water for 5 seconds. Wipers should operate for 15 seconds or less. If wipers operate continuously for more than 15 seconds, outside moisture sensor is faulty.
- Ensure windshield is dry. Turn wiper switch to maximum sensitivity in AUTO DELAY position. Spray outside moisture sensor area heavily with water for 5 seconds. Wipers should operate continuously for 10 seconds or more. If wipers operate in pulse mode within initial 10 seconds or stop operating in 9 seconds or less, outside moisture sensor is faulty. If wiper system does not function properly, perform appropriate symptom test. See SYMPTOM INDEXΒ table under SYMPTOM TESTS.
NOTE:
Windshield should be cleaned with GM Cleaning Powder (1050011) or equivalent and rinsed thoroughly before performing test. Wiper blades must be in good condition.
