Test 6: Washer Does Not Operate

- Disconnect washer motor connector. Connect test light between terminals of washer motor connector. While observing test light, activate washer switch. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is not on, check for poor wiring connection at washer motor. Repair as necessary. If connection is okay, replace washer motor. See WASHER MOTORΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect test light between chassis ground and washer motor connector terminal "A" (Red wire). Activate washer switch. If test does is not on, go to next step. If test light is on, check for open circuit in Black wire between washer motor connector terminal "B" and ground near rear of air cleaner housing. Repair as necessary.
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe wiper motor connector terminal "A" (Red wire). See Figure . Activate washer switch. If test light is not on, go to next step. If test light is on, repair open circuit in Red wire between wiper motor connector terminal "A" and washer motor connector terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ .
- Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe wiper motor connector terminal "G" (Gray wire). See Figure . Activate washer switch. If test light is on, replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)Β under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light is not on, check for open circuit in Gray wire or poor wiring connection. Repair as necessary. If wiring and connections are okay, replace wiper switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
