Test 3: Wipers Do Not Operate In Low Speed

2000 Buick Park Avenue Base, 3.8 KSECTION Test 3: Wipers Do Not Operate In Low Speed
  1. With ignition off, disconnect connector from wiper motor. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn wiper switch to LOW position. Connect test light between ground and wiper motor connector terminal "H" (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If test light is on, go to step  5 . If test light is not on, go to next step.
  2. Check for open or poor connection in Dark Blue wire between wiper motor connector terminal "H" and wiper switch connector terminal B4. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If open or poor connection is found, go to next step. If Dark Blue wire circuit is okay, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair open or poor connection in Dark Blue wire between wiper motor connector terminal "H" and wiper/washer switch connector terminal B4. After repair, perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  4. Replace wiper/washer switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. After repair, perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Observe location of wiper motor cover terminal T2 (terminal T2 is for wiper speed circuit that connects to Dark Blue wire of 8-pin wiper motor connector). Connect a fused (10-amp) jumper from battery voltage to wiper motor terminal that connects to wiper motor cover terminal T2. Observe location of wiper motor cover terminal T3 (terminal T3 is ground circuit that connects to Black wire of 8-pin wiper motor connector). Connect a jumper wire from ground to wiper motor terminal that connects to wiper motor cover terminal T3. If wiper motor operates, go to step  7 . If wiper motor does not operate, go to next step.
  6. Replace wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  7. Replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
