- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Cycle wiper switch through all positions, then to OFF position. Disconnect 3-pin wiper switch connector C202. If wipers do not operate, check for shorted circuit in pigtail to wiper switch. If wiring is okay, replace wiper/washer switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- If wipers do not stop operating, cycle ignition off, and then on. If wipers stop operating, replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)Β under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If wipers are still operating, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and 3-pin wiper switch connector C202 terminal B2 (Yellow wire). If less than one volt exists, go to step Β 5 . If one volt or more exists, go to next step.
- Reconnect 3-pin wiper switch connector C202. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and wiper motor connector terminal "G" (Gray wire). See Figure . If less than one volt exists, replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)Β under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If one volt or more exists, repair short to voltage in Gray wire between wiper motor connector terminal "G" and 3-pin wiper switch connector C202 terminal B3. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and 3-pin wiper switch connector C202 terminal B4 (Dark Blue wire). If less than one volt exists, go to step Β 7 . If one volt or more exists, go to next step.
- Reconnect 3-pin wiper switch connector. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and wiper motor connector terminal "H" (Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If one volt or more exists, repair short to voltage in Dark Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . If less than one volt exists, replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)Β under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Reconnect 3-pin wiper switch connector C202. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and wiper motor connector terminal "D" (Purple wire). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, repair short to battery voltage in Purple wire. If battery voltage does not exist, replace wiper motor cover. See WIPER MOTOR COVER (CIRCUIT BOARD)Β under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
