Power Window System: Operation
Driver Door Module (DDM) directly controls Driver's door lock actuator, power window motor and outside mirror. DDM sends and receives messages from Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA) to Passenger Door Module (PDM) and Rear Door Module (RDM) over Simple Bus Interface (SBI) line. DDM also sends and receives messages from other vehicle system modules over class 2 data line.
PDM controls right front door lock actuator, power window motor and power mirror. PDM receives direct inputs from passenger door lock switch, passenger power window switch and passenger door jamb switch. PDM sends and receives messages from DDM and RDM over SBI line.
RDM controls rear door lock actuator and power window motors. RDM receives direct inputs from rear door lock switches, rear power window switches and rear door jamb switch. RDM sends and receives messages from DDM and PDM over SBI line.
Driver Door Switch Assembly (DDSA) provides messages for controlling power door locks, power windows and power mirrors to DDM over SBI line. DDSA contains a microprocessor which receives direct inputs from door modules and reports to all switch activity to DDM.
Each door module is capable of performing window up/down movement, door ajar status, door lock/unlock functions, front door outside mirror controls.
