DTC C1232: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted
2000 Buick Century CustomSECTION DTC C1232: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM harness connector. Check resistance of wheel speed sensor circuit. If resistance is 800-1600 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1600 ohms, go to step 5 .
- Check wheel speed sensor circuit for short to ground. If circuit is shorted, go to step 8 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check wheel speed sensor circuit for short to voltage. If circuit is shorted, go to step 11 . If circuit is okay, go to step 13 .
- Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector. Check resistance across wheel speed sensor terminals. If resistance is 850-1350 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 850-1350 ohms, go to step 15 .
- Check for open in wheel speed sensor signal low circuit. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check for open in wheel speed sensor signal high circuit. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, check for intermittents. See INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector. Check wheel speed sensor for an internal short to ground. If sensor is shorted, go to step 15 . If sensor is not shorted, go to next step.
- Check wheel speed sensor signal low circuit for short to ground. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check wheel speed sensor signal high circuit for short to ground. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Check wheel speed sensor signal low circuit for short to voltage. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Check wheel speed sensor signal high circuit for short to voltage. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If circuit is okay, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Check for poor connections or terminal tension at wheel speed sensor harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If terminals or connections are okay, go to next step.
- Check for poor connections or terminal tension at EBCM harness connector. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 17 . If connections or terminals are okay, go to step 16 .
- Replace wheel speed sensor. After replacing sensor, go to step 17 .
- Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition on and recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
