DTC C1217: Pump Motor Shorted To Ground

2000 Buick Century CustomSECTION DTC C1217: Pump Motor Shorted To Ground
  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKΒ  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove EBCM from BPMV. Check connector for damage, corrosion, poor terminal contact or presence of brake fluid. If connector is faulty or if brake fluid is preset, go to next step. If connection is okay or brake fluid is not present, go to step Β 4 .
  3. If connector is faulty, replace BPMV and/or EBCM as necessary. If brake fluid is present, replace both BPMV and EBCM. After repairs, go to step Β 7 .
  4. Install Connector Test Kit (J-35616-A) to pump motor terminals. Using a DVOM, check continuity between pump motor terminals and pump motor case. If continuity exists between either terminals and pump motor case, go to step Β 6 . If continuity does not exist between either terminals and pump case, go to next step.
  5. Replace EBCM. After replacing EBCM, go to step Β 7 .
  6. Replace BPMV. After replacing BPMV, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off. Ensure system voltage is greater than 9.4 volts. Turn ignition on and recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to step Β 2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
