When ignition switch is in RUN or START positions, battery voltage is applied to AIR BAG warning light. SDM illuminates this light by providing a ground to a lamp driver. When ignition is first turned on, AIR BAG warning light verifies light and SDM operation by flashing 7 times. Light is also used to warn driver of SIR electrical system faults which could potentially affect SIR system operation. AIR BAG warning light is the key to driver notification of SIR system faults.
