Speedometer Mounted with VSS Buffer

1989 Buick Skyhawk S/E, StandardSECTION Speedometer Mounted with VSS Buffer

The optic head portion of the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is located in speedometer frame. A reflective blade is attached to speedometer cable/head assembly. The blades spins and passes through a light beam from an LED (Light Emitting Diode) in the optic head. This results in a signal being sent to the buffer for amplification and signal conditioning. The amplified signal is then sent to control module.
