VSS Check

1985 Buick Electra Base, 4D Sedan, 4.3 TSECTION VSS Check

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) sends vehicle speed signal from transaxle to ECM. VSS input to ECM is used to calculate amount of EGR and to engage TCC.

VSS generated check engine light is load sensitive and will go on and off with load. VSS will turn on check engine light only if ECM does not see VSS signal for at least 26 seconds under a MVS load of from 25-50%. Check engine light will go off as load falls below 25%, and will go on again if load exceeds 25% for at least 10 seconds.
