1982 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon V8-307 5.0LSECTION Service and Repair

MODELS W/V8-307 ENGINE
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner and hot air pipe, then scribe alignment marks and remove hood.
3. Remove all electrical connections, hoses and lines that will interfere with engine removal.
4. Remove upper radiator support, fan and drive belts, then disconnect transmission cooling lines and remove radiator.
5. Disconnect power steering pump and A/C compressor, if equipped, and position aside. Do not disconnect hoses from pump or compressor.
6. Disconnect throttle cable, then remove AIR pipe from catalytic converter.
7. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect exhaust pipes from manifolds.
8. Remove converter cover, scribe alignment marks on converter and flywheel, then remove converter attaching bolts.
9. Remove engine mount attaching bolts, then the starter motor.
10. Remove all engine to transmission attaching bolts except the lower left hand bolt.
11. Attach suitable chain and hoist to engine, then lift transmission slightly and remove remaining transmission to engine bolt.
12. Lift engine slowly and remove from vehicle.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
