1. Control valve assembly and spacer plate.

a. 2-3 shift valve or 2-3 throttle valve stuck in the downshift position.

b. Leaking, damaged or incorrectly installed valve body gaskets.

c. Reverse/3rd check ball not seating, damaged or missing.

2. Case channels porous.

3. Center support

a. Plugged or undrilled center support.

b. Damaged steel oil seal rings on center support.

4. Direct clutch.

a. Inner oil seal ring on piston damaged or missing.

b. Center oil seal ring on direct clutch hub damaged or missing.

c. Check ball and/or retainer damaged or missing from direct clutch piston.

d. Damaged or missing direct clutch piston or housing.

e. Damaged or missing direct clutch plates.

f. Direct clutch backing plate snap ring not in groove.

g. Release spring guide improperly located, preventing piston check ball from seating in retainer.

5. Intermediate servo assembly (third clutch accumulator oil passages).

a. Broken or missing servo to case oil seal ring on intermediate servo piston.

b. Intermediate servo and/or capsule missing or damaged.

c. Plugged or undrilled exhaust hole in case between servo piston seal rings.

d. Bleed orifice cup plug missing from intermediate servo pocket in case.
