Install eccentric shaft
2024 BMW M440i 2D ConvertibleSECTION Install eccentric shaft
- Check all the guide bushings in the marked
area for damage, replace the damage guide bushings if applicable.
- Check all needle bearings (1) of the eccentric shaft (2) for ease of movement.
- Replace the eccentric shaft (2) in case of tight needle bearings (1) .
- Coat needle bearing (1)
with new motor oil.
- Clean all bearing positions (1)
in cylinder head and coat with fresh motor oil.
- Clean all the bearing positions of the bearing brackets (1) and coat with fresh motor oil.
- Clean the bearing position of the bearing cap (1)
and coat with fresh motor oil.
- Push the needle bearing (1)
up to the stop in the arrow direction before installing the eccentric shaft.
- Insert the eccentric shaft (1)
into the cylinder head in such a way that the mark (2)
points up.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Engine damage caused by incorrectly installed bearing shells and bearing brackets.
If the bearing shells and bearing brackets are installed incorrectly, then engine damage can occur.- Always install all bearing shells and bearing brackets in the same position from which they were removed.
- Feed in the bearing bracket (1)
and install.
All bearing brackets (1) must be reinstalled at the location where the bearing brackets (1) were removed.
- Thread in bearing cap (2)
and install.NOTE: Bearing cap 2 is provided with a stop.
- Tighten down screws (1) and (2) uniformly.
