SITUATION
Condensation is present on the innersurfaces in one or both taillights (circled).
CAUSE
Modern BMW vehicles utilize waterproof membrane technology which allows for naturally occurring condensation and air to escape, without allowing excess water or dirt entry. Vehicles which utilize this membrane technology will dry normal condensation at a slower rate than open concept taillights used on previous models. This is a normal condition and requires no correction.
CORRECTION
The condensation shown will typically form along the geometrical edges or corners of the taillight lenses. This is a normal characteristic of modern taillights and requires no correction, as this is not a defect.
PROCEDURE
A catalog of photos has been attached to this bulletin demonstrating taillights with natural condensation (OK) compared to a taillight with excess water ingress (Not OK).
PARTS INFORMATION
Parts are not required. Condensation as outlined in this bulletin is not a defect and does not require any correction.
