To top off transmission after a repair, put selector lever to setting "P". Vehicle must be horizontal and secured to prevent it from rolling away. Unfasten filler screw. Top off automatic transmission using filler neck attached to filler aperture until oil emerges at filler/overflow bore. See Fig 1. Start engine. Top off automatic transmission again until oil emerges at filler/overflow bore. Screw in filler plug. See Fig 2. Operate brake and, with engine at idle speed, shift transmission through all gears several times. Connect BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) and/or BMW MoDiC to vehicle and perform oil level check in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Replace sealing ring. Tighten drain plug to 11 ft. lbs. (16 N.m).
