Preprocesses
- Remove acoustic cover
- Raise acoustic cover (1).
- Remove acoustic cover (1) in the direction of travel.
- Remove left microfilter housing cover
- Pull off edge protection (1) in working area.
- Unlock screw caps (2) and remove microfilter housing cover.
- Remove right microfilter housing cover
- Pull off edge protection (1) in working area.
- Unlock screw caps (2) and remove microfilter housing cover (3).
- Remove microfilter housing
- Disconnect plug connection (1).
- Unlock screw caps (2) and remove microfilter housing.
- Remove partition wall, units compartment completely
- Remove gasket (1) for engine compartment lid.
- Loosen screws (2) and (4).
- Feed out units compartment partition wall in the middle (3).
- Loosen expanding rivet (1).
- Loosen screws (2) and (4).
- Unclip access line (3).
- Feed out units compartment partition wall, left (5).
- Loosen expanding rivet (1).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Feed out units compartment partition wall, right (3).
- Remove left and right tension struts on spring strut dome NOTE: Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left component is identical.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove tension strut (2).
- Remove intake port on left and right
- Remove expanding rivet (1).
- Remove air intake hose (2) upwards.
NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.- Push in latch mechanism (1).
- Pull off air intake hose (2) in direction of travel.
- Remove intake silencer housing on left and right NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Unfasten clamp (1).
- Disconnect connector (2) at the hot film air mass meter.
- Release clamp (3).
- Unclip oxygen sensor cable from intake silencer housing.
- Detach the intake air filter housing from the intake port and pull off upwards.
- Releasing left charge air hose on exhaust turbocharger
- Unfasten clamp (1).
- Bend charge air pipe (2) slightly to the side.
- Releasing right charge air hose on exhaust turbocharger
- Unfasten clamp (1).
- Bend charge air pipe (2) slightly to the side.
- Remove left clean air pipe.
- Version 1:
- Unlock the retainer.
- At the same time, pull off connecting line from clean air pipe.
- Version 2:
- Lightly pull line (1) in the direction of the arrow.
Simultaneously, unlock the latch mechanisms (2) one after the other using a screwdriver (3).
Pull off connecting line from clean air pipe.
- Release screw (1).
- Pull clean air pipe (2) from exhaust turbocharger.
- Version 1:
- Remove right clean air pipe
- Version 1:
- Unlock the retainer.
- At the same time, pull off connecting line from clean air pipe.
- Version 2:
- Lightly pull line (1) in the direction of the arrow.
Simultaneously, unlock the latch mechanisms (2) one after the other using a screwdriver (3).
Pull off connecting line from clean air pipe.
- Release screw (1).
- Pull clean air pipe (2) from exhaust turbocharger.
- Version 1:
- Disconnect coolant hoses on expansion tank.
- Disconnect coolant hoses on expansion tank using generally available disconnecting tools.
E.g. HAZET disconnect pliers (see chart).

- Disconnect coolant hoses on expansion tank using generally available disconnecting tools.
- Remove coolant expansion tank
- Unlock coolant hose (1) and detach.
- Loosen screws.
- Raise coolant expansion tank (2) slightly until plug for coolant level switch and lower coolant hose are accessible. Unclip line on side of expansion tank.
- Unlock connector (1) and remove.
- Unlock lower coolant hose (2) and detach.
- Remove coolant expansion tank (3).
- Removing water valve for heater partially
- Release heater valve (1) from the top from both holders.
- Removing oxygen sensor connector holder/left high pressure pump connector
- Unclip connector (1) and (2) from holder.
- Unlock and disconnect connectors (1) and (2).
- Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
- Unlock holder (2) and feed out upwards.
- Remove holder of oxygen sensor connector/high pressure pump connector, right
- Unclip connector (1) and (2) from holder.
- Unlock and disconnect connectors (1) and (2).
- Unlock and disconnect connector (1).
- Unlock holder (2) and feed out upwards.
- Removing carrier plate
- Loosen screws (1) and (2).
- Remove carrier plate (3) upwards.
- Removing left carrier plate holder
- Loosen screws (1).
- Feed out left carrier plate holder (2) upwards.
- Removing right carrier plate holder
- Loosen screws (1).
- Feed out right carrier plate holder (2) upwards.
- Removing oil filler neck
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove oil filler neck (2).
- Partially remove reverse heating coolant pipe
- Unlock coolant hose (1) and pull off coolant pipe.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Unclip coolant pipe (2) from the bracket (3).
Keyprocesses
- Removing right connecting line
- Version 1:
- Unlock the retainer.
- Simultaneously pull off the engine ventilation line from the actuating wire.
- Version 2:
- Lightly pull line (1) in the direction of the arrow.
Simultaneously, unlock the latch mechanisms (2) one after the other using a screwdriver (3).
Pull off the engine ventilation line from the connecting line.
- Loosen screws (2).
- Detach the connecting line (1) from the cylinder head cover by pulling it upward.
- Version 1:
- Visual inspection for loose parts in the cylinder head cover
- Conduct visual inspection in marked area (1) to check for loose parts.
- Remove any loose parts that may be on the oil separator.
- Removing engine ventilation line for cylinders 1-4 partially

- Unlock the retainer.
- Simultaneously pull off the ventilation line from the intake system.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Lift the engine wiring harness (2) slightly and remove the engine ventilation line.

- Removing left connecting line
- Version 1:
- Unlock the retainer.
- Simultaneously pull off the engine ventilation line from the intake system.
- Version 2:
- Lightly pull line (1) in the direction of the arrow.
Simultaneously, unlock the latch mechanisms (2) one after the other using a screwdriver (3).
Pull off the engine ventilation line from the connecting line.
- Loosen screws (2).
- Detach the connecting line (1) from the cylinder head cover by pulling it upward.
- Version 1:
- Visual inspection for loose parts in the cylinder head cover
- Conduct visual inspection in marked area (1) to check for loose parts.
- Remove any loose parts that may be on the oil separator.
- Removing engine ventilation line for cylinders 5-8 partially

- Feed out and remove engine ventilation line.

- Push connecting line (1) from above into cylinder head cover.
- Tighten down screws (2).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Connecting line on cylinder head cover M6 x 18 10 Nm - Version 1: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Insert connecting line onto engine ventilation line.
- Version 2: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Insert connecting line onto engine ventilation line.
- Installing engine ventilation line for cylinders 5-8 partially
- Position engine ventilation line.NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Insert the engine ventilation line onto the intake system in the direction of the arrow.
- Position engine ventilation line.
- Installing right connecting line
- Push connecting line (1) from above into cylinder head cover.
- Tighten down screws (2).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Connecting line on cylinder head cover M6 x 18 10 Nm - Version 1: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Insert connecting line onto engine ventilation line.
- Version 2: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Insert connecting line onto engine ventilation line.
- Installing engine ventilation line for cylinders 1-4 partially
- Slightly lift engine wiring harness.
Feed in engine ventilation line and position it properly.
NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place. - Insert the engine ventilation line onto the intake system in the direction of the arrow.
- Position engine wiring harness (2).
- Tighten down screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Engine wiring harness to engine M8 10 Nm Postprocesses
- Slightly lift engine wiring harness.
- Install reverse heating coolant pipe
- Installing oil filler neck
- Installing right carrier plate holder
- Installing left carrier plate holder
- Installing carrier plate
- Position carrier plate (3).
- Tighten down screws (1) and (2).
- Installing oxygen sensor connector holder/right high pressure pump connector
- Connect holder (2) to carrier plate from above.
- Connect connector (1).
- Connect connectors (1) and (2).
- Clip connectors (1) and (2) in the holder.
- Installing oxygen sensor connector holder/left high pressure pump connector
- Connect holder (2) to carrier plate from above.
- Connect connector (1).
- Connect connectors (1) and (2).
- Clip connectors (1) and (2) in the holder.
- Attach heater valve for heating and air-conditioning unit
- Attach heater valve (1) from top to both holders.
- Install coolant expansion tank
- Connect connector (1).
- Connect lower coolant hose (2) and lock.
- If required, remove disconnect pliers from the coolant hoses.
- Position the coolant expansion tank (3).
» Check the correct position of the coolant expansion tank (3).

- Tighten down screws.
- Connect coolant hose (1) and lock.
- If required, remove disconnect pliers from the coolant hoses.
- Install right clean air pipe
- Check the gasket on the clean air pipe.
- Replace faulty gasket.
- Position clean air pipe (2) on exhaust turbocharger.
- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Clean air pie to turbocharger M6 10 Nm - Version 1: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Attach connecting line to clean air pipe.
- Version 2: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Attach connecting line (1) with the latch mechanisms (2) to clean air pipe.
- Install left clean air pipe
- Check the gasket on the clean air pipe.
- Replace faulty gasket.
- Position clean air pipe (2) on exhaust turbocharger.
- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Clean air pie to turbocharger M6 10 Nm - Version 1: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Attach connecting line to clean air pipe.
- Version 2: NOTE: Ensure correct locking of all the retaining lugs. Retaining lugs must audibly snap into place.
- Attach connecting line (1) with the latch mechanisms (2) to clean air pipe.
- Fastening right charge air hose on exhaust turbocharger
- Fastening left charge air hose on exhaust turbocharger
- Install left and right intake silencer housing NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Installing the left and right intake port NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Attach intake hose (1).
» Intake hose (1) must be correctly engaged.
- Attach air intake hose left and right (2).
- Fasten expanding rivet (1).
- Installing left and right tension struts on spring strut dome NOTE: Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left component is identical.
- Installing the complete engine bulkhead NOTE: Ensure correct fit!
