2011 BMW X5 50iSECTION 13 51 004 Removing and installing/replacing high-pressure pump (M57TU, M57T2)

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT: Protect alternator against engine oil, coolant or fuel.
Cover alternator with suitable auxiliary materials (risk of damage!). 

Recycling: 

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel and coolant.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

IMPORTANT: Only E65 with M57T2:
A high pressure pump with woodruff key groove is installed in the pump shaft from production date 11/2004.

Installation note: 

Position the pump shaft so that the groove in the shaft lines up with the cast lug in the drive sprocket.

NOTE: The special tools 13 5 191 and 13 5 192 are included in the set of special tools 13 5 190 .

Necessary preliminary work: 

Disconnect the connector (1) on the HP pump.

Detach fuel feed line (2).

Detach fuel return line (3).

Release union nut of high pressure line (4) with special tool 13 5 020 .

Installation note: 

Replacing the high pressure line.

Tightening torque: 13 53 8AZ .

Open screw plug (1).

Installation note: 

Tightening torque: 11 14 4AZ .

Replace sealing ring.

Lightly oil sealing ring.

Release nut (1) and remove.

Installation note: 

Tightening torque: 13 52 2AZ .

Screw special tool 13 5 192 into the gear case cover.

Screw special tool 13 5 191 fingertight without set screw (1) into the sprocket.

Screw in set screw (1) and pretension HP pump.

Unscrew nuts (1).
