SUBJECT

Check Control Message "High Beam Assistant Failed"Β 

SITUATION

After starting the vehicle, a check control message "FLA (High Beam Assistant) faulty" is displayed and the function cannot be activated. At the same time, fault code E596 is stored in the FRM_70 (Footwell control module).

After driving for approximately 5 minutes, the function is available again.

CAUSE

Software error in the KAFAS (camera-based driver assistance system) control module

PROCEDURE

Do not replace any parts.

Program and code the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.38.1 or higher.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

All other labor operations on the same line or other lines must be claimed using plus code labor operations (KSD2 labor operations that have a (+) prefix and the last three digits are 500 or a higher number), if one is available.

In cases where ISTA requires the replacement of control modules or additional programming because certain control modules failed to program correctly, or just an initialization is required, print out the Measures Plan and/or Final Report and attach these reports to the RO in the vehicle file. This additional work should be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin, using the labor operation and labor allowance from the KSD2.
